My name is Chancey Levi Chambers. I am a 4th generation well driller. I started helping my father by sorting the submersible well wire on well repair jobs when I was 12 years old. In 1998 I became a hand on a drill rig. In 2003 I finished my journeyman training and became a water well driller. In 2008 I obtained my C-57 Contractors license in California and started Chambers Choice Drilling. I specialize in commercial and municipal projects, but as you will see, I am more than proficient in domestic and agricultural drilling. Chambers Choice Drilling has a domestic well service that oversees San Bernardino and Riverside County. From 2009 to the present my company has overseen the service and installation of thousands of domestic wells. Since 2013 my company is one of the preeminent experts on brine well drilling in Southern California and we service over 50 commercial brine wells annually. Brine wells specialize in the production of salts for various applications. Brine well design on dry lake beds, mines and salt shelfs present difficult situations that require unique drilling and safety procedures. From 2014 to 2020 I was hired as a consultant for farming co-ops and oversaw the drilling and management of over 100 agricultural wells in the Central Valley. I also consulted on the design and oversight of annular fills and sealing methods for multiple companies in the San Joaquin Valley during this time. I served as the Drilling Manager of Pacifica Geo from 2015-2020, a 5 year contract where I supervised the design and implementation of test boreholes for water quality and geological data for determining the viability of specific crops. This involves interpreting elogs and then isolating water samples from suitable saturated zones to determine crop viability.
From 2020 to the present I have worked to become a leading designer, driller and consultant for the Federal Government in the west. I do frequent work for Death Valley National Park and the Lake Meade National Recreation area. I do work for many other federal agencies in various locations. In 2020, the acting superintendent and engineer of Death Valley, Captain Bradley Harris, applauded me on my ability to work with the state of California to accomplish permitting hurdles. In 2021, I was touted by Mojave National Preserve’s assistant Superintendent, Dr. Debra Hughson , for being able to produce more water from my direct rotary mud wells than any other driller. In 2022 I successfully helped broker a deal between LADWP, NPS and the BLM for a permitted well in the Owen’s Valley at Manzanar Historic Site. In 2022, I obtained my Water Well Construction License in Oregon and helped US Fish and Wildlife Service to design a difficult geothermal well that pulls 200 degree water from a lava tube to keep endangered fish warm during the cold winters. These are just a few of the successful collaborations on projects with the Federal government over the past 5 years. In 2023, I obtained my Montana and Arizona Drillers licenses to assist the federal government in projects within those states. Of course, In 2025 I obtained my drillers license in Nevada to begin work on planned federal projects in your state at Pahranagat Wildlife Refuge and on the Nevada side of the Lake Meade National recreation area.
I think what makes me a good well driller is that I am passionate about my pursuit of knowledge in the drilling industry. I am always working to expand my knowledge. I will travel anywhere to learn. I once flew to Ohio to watch ODNR present new techniques on flowing artesian drilling. I routinely go to groundwater classes and seminars. I also volunteer for public service in water related fields. I served on the Boards of Directors at the Twentynine Palms Water District for 5 years. I served on the Groundwater Committee for the Association of California Water Agencies for 2 years and as a voting member of the ACWA Joint Powers Insurance Authority for 3 years. I am currently on the board of the Dale Basin Well Owners Association and hold 3 free presentations on well design and maintenance each year. Beyond my drilling licenses in 5 states, I enjoy collecting certs that help me to be a better drilling professional. I am a grade 2 water treatment and distribution operator in California. I am a licensed electrical contractor in Arizona and California, specializing in electric well motors. I have a BS in Business Management with a Minor in Public Administration, which I believe helps me when dealing with government agencies and doing well business in general. Lastly, I am an NGWA certified expert on all water well systems.
My current goal for continuing education is to become a National Groundwater Association Master Water Contractor by 2027. This is a title only held by approximately 60 individuals. I am currently a NGWA certified drilling expert in air rotary, mud rotary, cable tool, reverse circulation, jetting and driving. My plan is to take the written examination for the master title at the NGWA conference in December at Las Vegas.
There are many reasons why I believe you should select me as an advisory board member. I am a business owner and I have evaluated hundreds of driller candidates over the years. I have drilled hundreds of wells and have overseen the construction of over a thousand wells, from 2 inch monitoring wells 10 feet in depth, to 16 inch production wells over a thousand feet deep. I do work in many jurisdictions with many different hurdles. This broad knowledge makes me a good resource. While I have not been a licensed driller in Nevada very long, my general knowledge coupled with a fresh viewpoint on things may help provide a different perspective and I hope that learning the inter-workings of NDWR will help me grow as a well drilling professional. I am genuinely excited at the opportunity and I hope you will pick me.
